TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
MINERALDESIGN® Custom-Molded Terrazzo Furniture
Important
Furniture and other elements are manufactured by casting in custom-made molds. These are not industrial mineral slabs that are cut, assembled, and glued later.
Each project must be overseen by a qualified professional — installer, decorator, architect, or kitchen designer — responsible for on-site measurements, as well as unloading, handling, adjustments, and any necessary repairs during installation. This professional will be our direct point of contact.
The complexity of custom manufacturing requires us to exclude low-volume projects, under €3,000, or those not part of a larger MOSAIC FACTORY product order.
Upon payment, the client confirms having verified the measurements and details of the execution plan, as well as the quote or contract for the order. They also declare having read this technical sheet and understood the characteristics of the materials and this custom manufacturing process.
Logistics
Elements, properly protected, are shipped on reinforced pallets, similar to maritime crates.
We offer transport solutions, though the client may also manage logistics directly.
Products are delivered curb-side, in an accessible location for delivery trucks up to 12 tonnes and manual pallet jacks.
The professional responsible for the project is tasked with:
- Unloading the packaged pieces;
- Managing packaging waste;
- Transporting the pieces to the site or upper floors;
- Any adjustments, repairs, or rectifications required during installation.
Our contract is limited to the fabrication of pieces according to the approved execution plan and does not include opening the pallet or transporting the pieces to the site or upper floors.
Maintenance
ESTEZZA® is a calcareous material whose maintenance, porosity, and durability are similar to, or even superior to, those of natural stone, marble, or polished concrete surfaces.
After polishing, pieces receive factory-applied treatments of sealing, crystallization, and waxing, reducing porosity and thus sensitivity to stains caused by pigments and chemical agents.
Rigorous maintenance with pH-neutral products and wax, avoiding contact with chemicals, acids, alkalis, or highly pigmented liquids, will ensure its long-term beauty.
Terrazzo is a living material: it evolves and develops a patina over time.
Disclaimer
Furniture and other pieces are manufactured in accordance with the execution plan data approved by the client prior to order confirmation. On-site measurement errors are the responsibility of the client and their installer.
During production, a deviation of ± 4 mm from the execution plan measurements is considered normal due to cement shrinkage and the unique fabrication process of one-off pieces.
Our contract does not cover opening the pallet, transporting pieces to the site, or moving them to upper floors.
Production
Terrazzo is standardly manufactured as molded elements up to 135 × 220 cm and a maximum weight of 180 kg, whether as slabs or pieces with complex geometries.
Larger and heavier pieces can be manufactured, up to 150 × 250 cm and 300 kg. Such projects require dedicated transport solutions and specialized unloading and handling capabilities from the client.
Terrazzo is a highly customizable material in terms of CREATZO® color (its mineral base), as well as the shape, granulometry, and distribution of marble or crystal aggregates.
Our production agents have access to all design and manufacturing tools: CAD, CAM, and CNC milling, cutting, and modeling machinery.
Production Steps
- Project reviews between the client and our technical staff, with adjustments to the execution plan until approval and client signature.
- Custom mold fabrication.
- Terrazzo preparation and material casting.
- Natural curing for several weeks, under controlled conditions.
- Demolding.
- Mechanical polishing of pieces using CNC machines.
- Manual adjustments and rectifications.
- Application of sealant and hardeners.
ESTEZZA®
ESTEZZA® collection explores all possible combinations between:
- CREATZO®, our proprietary UHPC mineral base, available in 33 colors, composed of controlled-granulometry siliceous and calcareous minerals, additives, and reinforcing agents;
- Marbles and crystals in various colors, as well as sea shells or river stones.
Handling and Installation
Terrazzo slabs and furniture must be installed by an experienced professional. Our responsibility is limited to the fabrication of the pieces, not their subsequent handling.
Pieces should remain in their protective packaging until installation to avoid unnecessary damage.
During handling:
- Do not rest pieces on edges or corners;
- Avoid unnecessary handling;
- Plan unloading and placement logistics in advance.
The weight of the pieces — 72 to 96 kg/m² for thicknesses of 3 and 4 cm — requires planning to minimize handling.
All slab movements must be done upright, holding them by the edge, never flat. Before moving and positioning pieces, ensure the structure or support points are properly leveled.
